Do The Right

#DoTheRight Day is Thursday, April 9, 2026

Kindness is contagious. That’s why the City of Meridian, with the help of many partners, observes DO THE RIGHT every April. The goal of the day is to encourage people of all ages to do something nice for the person to their right—whether it’s helping a neighbor drag their garbage can to the curb, handing a note of appreciation to a classmate, or buying coffee for a coworker. By taking the time to perform acts of service and kindness, we ensure that our community remains friendly, vibrant, and welcoming to all.

Spread the Word

Help us promote kindness by making sure everyone—friends, family members, neighbors, classmates, coworkers—knows about DO THE RIGHT. Here’s how you can help everyone discover our movement of compassion:

BEFORE DO THE RIGHT DAY

Tell everyone you know about Do The Right!

ON DO THE RIGHT DAY (APRIL 9, 2026)

Share your examples of kindness given and received!

  • Post photos on Facebook with the hashtag #DoTheRight and tag the City using @meridianidaho.

Help spread the word with our promotional materials!

If your business, faith group, or organization is planning an act of kindness for this year's Do The Right campaign, we'd love to hear about your plans and help promote your efforts!

By filling out this quick form form, you're able to give us a heads-up about your ideas and also request some official Do The Right stickers to help with promotion.

For ideas about simple projects you can implement, consider:

  • Seeing if you can set up an APPRECIATION STATION on Do The Right Day in a public-facing area of your building. More info on this can be found in the Appreciation Station tab on this page.
  • Checking out service ideas on the Idaho Kindness website.

Get Involved

There are many ways to get involved with DO THE RIGHT this year, and the tabs below provide a number of opportunities. If you have a project or event of your own that you'd like to share, please contact [email protected]

*Monday, April 6 - Thursday, April 9 | 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Meridian City Hall, Ground Floor Lobby

In the week leading up to Do The Right Day (April 9, 2026), the front lobby of Meridian City Hall (33 E Broadway Ave, Meridian, ID 83642) will feature an Appreciation Station stocked with cards, candy, and writing instruments. Visitors may stop by the Appreciation Station during regular business hours (8:00 AM to 5:00 PM) between Monday, 4/6, and Thursday, 4/9, to assemble a gratitude gift that can then be given to someone as a token of appreciation.

If your business, faith group, or organization would like to set up an Appreciation Station in your own building, please reach out to [email protected]! All you need to provide is a table and some space. We will supply you with branded cards so that your visitors can decorate and sign their own gratitude gifts. Some groups choose to also provide grab bags / swag with their own group's branded content as an extra goodie for the gifts. The only limit is your imagination!

Celebrate Do The Right Day at Meridian City Hall with the Meridian Mayor's Youth Advisory Council (MYAC). Take a seat at one of the appreciation stations to help pen letters to veterans, first responders, and senior citizens. Help Idaho hit 250,000 acts of service for the America250 in Idaho Ambassadors' Service Challenge—plus, enjoy scoops of ice cream while supplies last and socialize in a friendly, welcoming atmosphere with fellow volunteers.
